Mutual Energy agrees new maintenance contract for Moyle Interconnector

Mutual Energy Limited (MEL), owners and operators of the Moyle Interconnector, has signed a new maintenance management agreement with Siemens. The agreement, which takes effect today (Thursday 1st December) is for the next five years and covers all asset care in relation to the Moyle Interconnector converter stations, located in Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Siemens have successfully retained the contract for maintenance management of the Moyle converter stations since the construction of the Moyle Interconnector was completed in December 2002. The contract is placed every five years, and Siemens has again been successful, demonstrating a high level of technical competence, excellent response and maintaining high availability over the period of the contract.

Commenting on the new contract, MEL Chief Executive Paddy Larkin said “This new contract represents a continuation of best practice in converter station management and we look forward to working with Siemens over the next five years.”
