Update on Moyle repair progress
Work has been ongoing on the Moyle pole 2 cable repairs since 19/01/12 and is progressing very well. Following de-trenching the damaged cable section has been removed and the first joint, joining the spare cable section to the original cable, has been completed. Work has just started on the second and final joint. The near term wind and sea forecast is reasonable and at this stage, it is planned that the interconnector will be back to full 450MW availability on Monday 20th February.
Quarterly and six monthly capacity auctions are currently scheduled for 17th February. However it is now intended to reschedule these auctions to the 23rd/24th respectively to ensure that the interconnector is indeed fully back in service before selling additional long term capacity.
A further update on progress and expected return to service date will be provided early next week.
