Moyle Interconnector Limited owns the interconnector linking the electricity transmission systems of Northern Ireland and Scotland. The cable and key components of the link have an engineering capacity of 500MW in each direction. However, limits applied by the Transmission System Operators at either end of the link mean that, at present, the full Moyle Interconnector engineering capacity cannot be made available to the market for flows between the BETTA and SEM markets.
This document sets out the work undertaken to determine the levels of capacity that can be made available to the market from 10 November 2017, together with future work to be undertaken by all concerned parties to investigate how and when the maximum capacity can be made available.
The document is available for consultation until 13th July 2017.
