Together, Northern Ireland’s gas transmission system operators (TSOs), Mutual Energy and Gas Networks Ireland (UK), have published the annual NI Gas Capacity Statement for 2024.
The document provides a forecast of gas transmission network demand for the next ten years, and models the existing network’s ability to manage this demand. This year’s statement represents a significant development on previous versions through improvements to the forecasting methodology to better reflect the interaction between the power and gas systems.
The two TSOs are working with the Utility Regulator and SONI, the electricity system operator, to further enhance our approach to network planning and development in the future.
